âCan we talk?â Leaning against the door frame, which is more for propping me up than to look cool and casual, I stare at her as she moves deliberately around the kitchen. She has made herself familiar with it all, and it makes me feel warm inside. She looks good in my kitchen. In my cabin. Canât say itâs my home, itâs not. I havenât had a home since I left the multi-million-pound townhouse in Chelsea where Jacob, Sawyer, Quentin and Connor now live.
âYou just left?â Her tone is downright frosty.
âI deserve the chill factor, but we need to talk.â
âHumph,â she mutters but doesnât stop what she is doing.
âRaven, Iâm sorry I left. It seems to be my move these days. Things get hard, and I leave. Iâm a dick; I know that. I shouldâve stayed and talked to you about how I was feeling. When weâ¦you knowâ¦â Christ, man. You canât even say the words.
âHad sex?â she snaps.
âYes,â I reply calmly. âIt wasâ¦â
âWhat?â
âMy first time.â
She freezes.
âIâve shocked you.â When she turns, I give her a small smile.
âUhmâ¦â Her face creases, and she gives me a searching look. âOkay, I kind of wish youâd mentioned that before.â
âWas it not clear?â
âWell, I meanâ¦I guessâ¦I figured youâd done it, and thatâs when you realisedâ¦fuck, Iâm messing this all up. Iâm sorry. Iâve never deflowered anyone before.â
Snickering into my hand, I cross over to her, taking her shaking hand to kiss her knuckles, revelling in the delight I feel to have my lips on her skin. âYou are adorable.â
She nods slowly. âOkay, so where does that leave us?â
Us. Iâm more confused now than ever. When I walked out of here, I had hoped to see her again, kiss her one last time and try to tell her how I feel. This has surpassed that. Raven has exceeded every expectation I had of her and thisâ¦relationship.
âIf you want to see if there really is an âusâ to get to know one another on a deeper level, I wonât leave. Iâm here, Raven.â
âIs that what you really want?â Her murmured words squeeze my heart.
âMore than you know. But Iâm still a bit confused. I wonât lie to you about that.â
âI understand. It must be very chaotic in your mind right now.â
âWill you give me a chance?â My heart has nearly stopped beating as I wait for her reply.
âI know how I feel about you.â Her voice has gone low and husky.
âAnd how is that?â
âMy soul aches without you. A part of my heart feels empty without you. I know that sounds intense, and weâve only really just found each other despite some two-way stalking.â She smiles, and it lights up my life to see it.
âIt is intense. But I feel the same. You have touched a part of me, Raven, that I didnât know was there. I donât think anyone will ever be able to bring this out in me ever again. Now that I have it, I want it. I donât want to lose this feeling.
